Product description
Laboratory test for gut balance and gut dysbiosis
How is your gut really doing?
Do you experience bloating, gas, stomach cramps, diarrhoea, constipation or discomfort after meals? An imbalance in the gut flora may be a contributing factor. Dysbiosis - a disruption in the balance between the bacteria in the gut - is more common than many people think and can affect both digestion and wellbeing.
With this laboratory test, you can investigate whether there are signs of dysbiosis in the small intestine or large intestine. The test provides valuable information about your gut health and can help you understand the cause behind recurring stomach issues.
Gut Balance Dysbiosis is a urine sample collection kit for laboratory analysis of markers that may provide an indication of imbalance in the gut flora. The sample is easily collected at home and sent to a laboratory for analysis.
The test analyses the levels of Indican and Skatole in urine. These metabolites are used as indicators of dysbiosis, where Indican is mainly associated with the small intestine and Skatole with the large intestine.
What can the test indicate?
The analysis can provide information about whether there are signs of imbalance in the gut flora and which part of the intestine appears to be most affected. The result may be relevant for recurring stomach and intestinal issues such as bloating, gas, abdominal pain, diarrhoea or constipation.
- Laboratory analysis of Indican and Skatole
- Urine sample collected at home
- May indicate imbalance in the small intestine and large intestine
- The result is sent digitally after analysis
- Intended for in vitro diagnostics
How the sample collection works
Collect the first morning urine in a clean container. Using the included pipette, transfer the sample to the sample collection tube according to the instructions. The sample is then placed in the sample transport tube and sent to the laboratory in the pre-addressed return envelope.
Important before taking the sample
Wait before taking the sample if you have taken lactic acid bacteria, probiotics or antibiotics during the past two weeks. Avoid alcoholic drinks and protein-rich foods the evening before taking the sample. If the test result is abnormal, you are recommended to consult a doctor, dietitian or another qualified healthcare professional.
