Having blood in your stool is relatively common., it can be caused by many different things. The most common are hemorrhoids and cracks in the anus (anal fissure), which are usually completely harmless. In some cases, blood in the stool can be a sign of more serious diseases, such as colon cancer or Crohn's disease. If you have blood in your stool, it should always be investigated by a doctor for further investigation and treatment. Our self-test for blood in stool is a simple self-test that gives you answers right away. The test is called F-Hb. Simply put, it detects if there is blood in the stool. F stands for “Feces” which is Latin for feces, Hb stands for Hemoglobin which is blood.

How is the test done?

It is known that hemorrhoids do not bleed all the time. Therefore, stool is collected for three consecutive days to increase the possibility of detecting intermittent (recurrent) bleeding. You do the test at home by testing your stool on a special paper, then using a test stick that is dipped in the stool, this stick is then placed in a tube containing a special diluent. The liquid is dripped into a test cassette. If there are traces of blood with a concentration higher than 10 ng/ml, the test shows positive. Note that the test does not require a special diet like many other tests.
