Prostate Test
The prostate, and PSA (prostate-specific antigen), are closely associated. The prostate is a gland that surrounds the upper part of the urethra. During ejaculation, fluid from the gland mixes with sperm cells and together forms semen. The prostate therefore helps facilitate fertilization. The prostate is located between the testicles and anus.. Here you can find more information about how to perform a prostate test!
In benign prostate enlargement or prostate cancer, PSA levels may be elevated. With our reliable prostate test, you can quickly and easily check whether your PSA level is within the expected range. If the test indicates elevated levels, you should contact your physician or primary care center. It is important to remember, however, that an elevated prostate value does not necessarily indicate serious disease. There can be many underlying causes of an elevated PSA level. Certain activities, such as cycling, can cause a temporary increase in blood PSA. Our prostate test gives a positive result when the PSA level is 4 ng/mL or higher.

Simple and virtually painless prostate test
Our PSA test is simple and virtually painless to perform. The test takes only around 10-15 minutes. The instructions are in Swedish and richly illustrated with text and color images. Our prostate test contains:
- Test cassette with pipette
- Test solution
- Lancet
- Instructions for use
The test gives you a useful opportunity to detect possible prostate cancer at an early stage. Sweden does not have a general prostate screening program for men comparable with mammography screening for women, so individuals largely need to be proactive about testing and seeking assessment.
How to interpret the test
Our prostate test has very high reliability. A low concentration of PSA in the blood means the risk of developing prostate cancer in the next few years is low. Quicktest's prostate test is aimed primarily at men from around age 40 and upward. Prostate cancer rarely develops before the age of 50. With our PSA tests, you can test regularly, quickly and conveniently without having to visit a primary care center.
Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men in Sweden, with thousands of new cases detected each year. Our prostate test gives you an opportunity to identify possible changes early while also checking that the result appears normal. Because prostate cancer is not screened for in the same way as some other cancers, this test can be an important home test. Identifying possible prostate changes early can be important for the best possible treatment outcome.

Is the test reliable?
- Yes, the same type of IVD test is used in healthcare in Europe. However, it is important that the prostate test is performed according to the instructions. Read the manual carefully before performing the test. Also note that various activities that stimulate the prostate can affect the test result. These may include cycling, transrectal ultrasound and ejaculation. In those cases, wait for the period stated in the manual before testing.
What should I do if the prostate test is negative?
- If the test is negative, you are most likely free from the prostate conditions detected by the test. If you still have symptoms, you should contact your physician, as symptoms can have many different causes.
Is blood used to perform the test?
- Yes. A few drops of blood are collected with the included pipette after a quick and virtually painless finger prick. The blood is then added to the test cassette together with the supplied dilution solution, and the result is read after a few minutes.
Does a positive result mean I have prostate cancer?
- No. There can be many reasons for an elevated PSA level. Examples include benign prostate enlargement, sometimes called BPH, as well as inflammatory and infectious prostate conditions such as prostatitis. Certain activities can also temporarily raise PSA levels. Cycling and ejaculation are two examples. You should therefore not perform a prostate test immediately after these activities. Our recommendation is to wait at least 24 hours before testing.
