How reliable are home tests?
Many people wonder how safe our home tests are. The fact is that they are very reliable. Knowledge about so-called In Vitro Diagnostic tests is becoming more widespread, largely thanks to the internet and the information that can easily be found. For those who work in healthcare or medical technology, IVD tests are an obvious technology that is also respected and considered reliable.
Our self-tests are manufactured in France. This means that they are inspected by a European Notified Body. A Notified Body is a conformity assessment organization that strictly reviews whether manufacturing, labeling and the product meet the stringent requirements set by European authorities. It is essentially the same type of procedure required for medicines and other equipment used in healthcare. Here you can read in more detail about the role of a Notified Body.
When the manufacturer meets all requirements, a so-called CE mark is obtained. This has a unique reference code and a CE number. In this way, a product can always be traced to the responsible manufacturer.
Quicktest has a unique collaboration agreement with manufacturers. We participate in product development and maintain an ongoing dialogue with doctors and researchers who have insight into the development of IVD products. For example, we were behind our Gluten Test. Development took approximately 2 years and today it is one of our best-selling tests!
To measure reliability, various instruments are used and the results are checked using other measurement methods. These checks are performed both internally and externally.
