With the Menopause Test from Quicktest you can find out for yourself whether you have reached menopauseThe test measures Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) in a woman's urine, a hormone that increases during menopause. Most women approach the phase of life called menopause, or the transition period, at around the age of 45. Menopause is a natural part of aging and is caused by the number of follicles in the ovaries running out. This also affects estrogen production, which then decreases. Menopause can last for different lengths of time, from a few years to more than ten years.

Am I in menopause? - Common symptoms

The symptoms you experience and how you experience them can vary greatly from person to person. Some people experience almost none. menopause symptoms, others are noticeably affected in their general well-being. Many women feel unwell, both physically and mentally. Reduced amounts of estrogen affect the entire body and can cause symptoms such as:
  • Rapid mood swings
  • Sudden sweating and hot flashes
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Depression
  • Dry and fragile mucous membranes in the lower abdomen
  • Urinary urgency
  • Lower abdominal discomfort, often caused by an elevated vaginal pH value caused by decreased estrogen production

Why do a menopause test?

Many middle-aged women suffer from menopausal symptoms and may experience mood problems or suffer from hot flashes, among other things. Knowing whether you have reached menopause is an important, but also an emotional message for many. When approaching menopause (menopause), a common early sign is irregular menstruation, but it can be difficult to know whether you have actually reached menopause or are still fertile. By testing yourself, you will get an answer to whether you are in menopause. Quicktest menopause test checks for elevated levels of the hormone FSH, which increases in the body during menopause and then remains elevated for three to five years. If you experience troublesome symptoms as a result of reduced estrogen production, so-called menopausal symptoms or transition symptoms, there is help available in the form of medical treatment. The doctor’s view

When a woman enters menopause, a great deal happens. The changes may be especially noticeable psychologically, and people around her may notice them. Mood swings are one of the main effects. It is worth knowing that menopause is not considered a disease; it is a completely normal condition. For some, the transition is relatively quick, while other women experience symptoms for several years.

Frequently asked questions

Can you know whether you are in menopause?
Yes. To find out whether a woman is in menopause, you can test for the presence of FSH in urine, a hormone that rises during menopause. Our menopause test detects the presence of FSH when the concentration is 25 mIU/ml or higher. The test then shows positive, indicating that the FSH levels suggest you have reached menopause.
How does the menopause test work?
Our menopause test is performed using a simple urine test.
  1. Collect urine in the urine cup provided.
  2. Dip the test strip vertically into the urine cup for approx. 10 sec.
  3. Place the test strip on a flat surface.
  4. Read the result after 5 minutes.
Why does the kit contain 2 menopause tests?
Because FSH is a follicle-stimulating hormone that controls the growth of ovarian follicles and the maturation of egg cells, FSH levels also rise during parts of a fertile woman's menstrual cycle. In the days before ovulation, FSH rises sharply to enable ovulation, causing FSH levels around ovulation to rise to between 20 and 90 IU/l before falling again. Our test shows a positive result when the FSH concentration is 25 mIU/ml or higher. Persistently elevated FSH levels, however, are very common at the beginning of menopause. To investigate whether you have reached menopause, you therefore need to check whether your body's FSH level remains high. Our menopause test therefore includes 2 tests. If the first Quicktest Menopause Test is positive, a new test should be performed 5 or 7 days later. If the positive result remains, the FSH level has been elevated over a period and may therefore indicate that you are undergoing the menopausal process. You should contact your gynecologist to confirm or rule out menopause.
I left the absorbent tip in the urine for more than 10 seconds. Will I get an accurate result?
Yes, a few extra seconds will not affect the test result.
I left the absorbent tip in the urine for less than 5 seconds. Can I get an accurate result?
No, because the sample amount may be insufficient.
Does the use of hormonal contraceptives (e.g. birth control pills) affect the test result?
If you use hormonal contraception and have just stopped using it, your cycles may be irregular for a while. This can affect the result. It is recommended that you wait two cycles before using the Quicktest Menopause Test.
Can the test give an incorrect result?
The result is accurate as long as the instructions for use are followed carefully. The test may be inaccurate if the test strip is damp before the test is performed. In the event of unexpected results, it is recommended that you consult a gynecologist, as certain health problems can cause an incorrect diagnosis.
I performed the test and it was positive, but my menstrual cycle is normal. Why is that?
A positive test indicates that the FSH level is equal to or higher than 25 mIU/ml, which means you may be in perimenopause. Menopause is defined as the absence of menstruation for a period of 12 months. The test result can be positive while the duration of your menstrual cycle is still normal. This means that you are in the perimenopausal phase.
What should I do if the result is positive?
If the first Quicktest Menopause Test is positive, a new test should be performed 5 or 7 days later. If the positive result remains, the FSH level has been elevated over a period and may therefore indicate that you are undergoing the menopausal process. You should contact your gynecologist to confirm or rule out menopause.
